Webitech is clearer, faster, and now checks website technologies and PHP versions

Webitech continues to evolve from a simple online audit into a tool designed to explain not only how a website performs, but more importantly what works, what needs attention, and what should be improved first.

Our latest updates significantly redesign the results experience, improve readability, accelerate the final stage of an audit, and introduce a new free Technology & Version Check. The new checker can identify publicly observable website technologies and now also attempts to detect a publicly exposed PHP version. When an identifiable version is outdated or no longer supported, Webitech can recommend an update and indicate its urgency.

New: Technology, versions, and PHP in one check

The new Technology & Version Check helps identify what technology a website is actually running on. Using publicly available HTML and HTTP signals, Webitech may detect:

  • WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, and other CMS platforms,
  • selected e-commerce and website-building platforms,
  • certain frameworks and frontend technologies,
  • web servers such as Apache, nginx, or LiteSpeed,
  • PHP and its publicly detectable version,
  • additional technology information exposed by the website.

New: PHP version detection

PHP powers a significant part of the modern web, particularly websites built with WordPress and other PHP-based systems. If a server publicly exposes its PHP version, Webitech can now detect that signal and evaluate its lifecycle status. A result may therefore show something such as: PHP version detected: 8.x Current or, when an older publicly identifiable version is found: Update recommended If a clearly unsupported and significantly outdated branch can be identified with sufficient confidence, Webitech may classify the recommendation as high priority or critical. However, one principle remains essential: Webitech does not guess hidden versions. If PHP, a CMS, or a web server does not publicly reveal an exact version, Webitech simply states that the version could not be externally verified. That is not considered an error by itself.

More than answering “What is this website built with?”

Knowing that a website uses WordPress, Drupal, or PHP is useful, but only to a point. The more important question is: Is the publicly detectable technology still current and supported? A detected technology may therefore receive a status such as:

  • Current
  • Newer version available
  • Update recommended
  • Critical update recommended

Critical recommendations are reserved for situations where Webitech can identify a significantly outdated or unsupported technology branch with sufficient confidence. Technology & Version Check is not a replacement for an internal vulnerability scanner or server security audit. It evaluates only signals that can reasonably be observed from outside the website. 👉 Run the free Technology & Version Check

Audit results are now much easier to understand

The main Webitech audit result has also received a major redesign. Previously, users could be presented with many individual scores almost simultaneously. The information was valuable, but it was not always immediately clear what mattered most or where to begin. The new Webitech experience uses a clearer Guided Result Reveal.

The Webitech Score comes first

When an assessment is complete, Webitech first highlights the overall Webitech Score. The value counts up dynamically while the visual indicator moves toward the final result. This gives users an immediate answer to the first question: How is my website performing overall? Only then are deeper insights revealed. Public completed assessments can also be explored in Webitech Results.

Four insights that make the result immediately useful

Next to the main score, Webitech now highlights four key insights.

Strongest area

Shows where the website performs best.

Weakest area

Immediately identifies the part of the digital footprint that requires the most attention.

Biggest opportunity

Highlights an area where improvement could provide meaningful practical value.

Recommended first step

Instead of presenting another number, Webitech answers a more useful question: What should I work on first? These insights are generated dynamically from the actual audit result.

Categories are grouped more logically

Individual metrics are no longer presented as one long collection of equally weighted cards. Results are organised into clearer groups such as:

Technical quality

Technical condition, performance, maintenance, and security.

Trust & brand

Trustworthiness, accessibility, content, company identity, and social footprint.

Growth & conversion

SEO, discoverability, conversion readiness, AI & Agent Readiness, and other signals related to digital growth. Every metric now uses clearer typography, a more visible status badge, and an animated progress bar. We have also increased font sizes and spacing inside the result cards to make the dashboard easier to scan on larger displays.

Results are revealed progressively

Once the audit is completed, the result does not need to overwhelm the user with every data point at once. Webitech progressively reveals:

  1. the overall Webitech Score,
  2. key findings,
  3. strongest and weakest areas,
  4. the recommended first step,
  5. individual metric groups,
  6. animated values and progress bars.

The results screen therefore guides users through the audit instead of confronting them with a wall of numbers.

No more wondering whether the audit has frozen at 100%

We have also improved the final stage of the audit process. Some final processing may continue for a few seconds after the primary checks have finished. Previously, reaching 100% could make it appear that the page had stopped responding. Webitech now displays a dedicated finalisation stage: Preparing your final result… with an animated processing state that makes it clear the audit is still working. We have also reduced unnecessary waiting before the results dashboard begins to appear.

The FULL report is clearer before unlocking

The complete FULL report offer has also been improved. Before purchasing, users can now more clearly understand what they will receive:

  • all detected findings,
  • specific evidence,
  • remediation priorities,
  • recommended next steps,
  • complete test results,
  • a professional downloadable PDF report.

The aim is to make the value of the FULL report clear before the user decides to unlock it.

Transparent methodology remains the foundation

Webitech evaluates publicly observable digital signals using a continuously developed methodology. The assessment areas, individual checks, and scoring principles are publicly available in the Webitech Methodology. For technology detection, we explicitly distinguish between information that was actually detected and information that cannot be reliably determined from outside the website. This applies to PHP, CMS, and server versions as well.

Webitech continues to evolve

Our goal is not to create the largest possible number of metrics. We want Webitech to turn publicly observable digital signals into a result that makes sense to business owners, marketers, and technical specialists alike. The new Technology & Version Check, publicly detectable PHP version analysis, improved Guided Result Reveal, better readability, and faster audit flow are another step in that direction. Analyze. Understand. Improve. 👉 Test your website on Webitech
